This coloured lithograph depicts Phoenix, a screw steamer (converted from a paddle steamer in 1844-1845), in port broadside view, attempting to tow two sailing vessels, the Diligence and Breadalbane, which have broken free in the heavy sea. Several large icebergs are visible in the background.

This is Plate II of a set of four. The other three are PAI6682 (Plate III), PAI6683 (Plate IV) and PAI6687 (Plate I). PAI6684 is another copy of this print, Plate II.
