The yachts coming to an anchor off Ter Heide, 29 November [OS]/9 December 1677.

In the right foreground, a port broadside view of the ‘Mary’ (de Marije) which lies at anchor with her mainsail brailed up. The ‘Portsmouth’ (de portsmout) lies underneath her stern. In the centre, there is a starboard view of the ‘Charlotte’ (de siarlet), her mainsail brailed but the vessel not yet at anchor. There is a Dutch pink to the windward of the ‘Charlotte’ and another close under her lee. To the left, the ‘Charles’ (de siarles) lies before the wind under a half-brailed up mainsail. The ‘Katherine’ (de katarijn) is at anchor at the very far left of the composition. There are three ships depicted in the background on the left: the ‘Greyhound’ (de grahont), the ‘Navy’ (de navij Jacht) and the ‘Anne’ (de Anne).
