Lord Viscount Howe. European Magazine

A circular bust-length portrait of Richard Howe, Earl Howe (1726–1799) in flag officer’s undress uniform, 1749–1767. The portrait is surrounded by an elaborate frame, hung at the top with a mask and ribbons and lettered at the bottom with the title, ‘Lord Viscount Howe’. Also lettered with the publication details: ‘European Magazine. / Published Novr. 1, 1782, by I. Fielding, Pater-noster Row, I. Sewell, Cornhill, & I. Debrett, Piccadilly.’ This print was published by John Fielding, John Sewell and J. Debrett as an illustration in ‘The European Magazine, and London Review’, volume 2 (October 1782), alongside ‘Memoirs of the Life and Military Services of Admiral Lord Howe’, pp. 243–5.
