Sir Thomas Pasley Bart
A bust-length portrait to right of John Jervis, Earl of St Vincent (1752–1820), in a dark coat and the ribbon and star of the Order of the Bath. Lettered beneath the image with the title and publication line, ‘John Earl of St. Vincent. / From the original Picture by Sir William Beechey, R. A. in his own Possession. Drawn by W. Evans and engraved by A. Cardon. / Published March 1, 1809, By T. Cadell & W. Davies, Strand, London.’ This print was engraved by Anthony Cardon from an intermediary drawing by William Evans after William Beechey’s oil painting of 1807–9, now in the National Portrait Gallery. Beechey was friends with St Vincent and painted his portrait several times. The print was published by Thomas Cadell and William Davies in 1809 for their ‘The British Gallery of Contemporary Portraits’. (Updated June 2019.)
