A wooden box with two fitted compartments in the lid, one containing the wooden outline of a ship with holes to slot in masts, the other compartment contains fifteen masts and spars with brass hooks attached. In the base of the box are two lift out trays containing painted wooden flags (naval code of signals). The wooden flags have brass eyes to attach them to the masts.
