Watch bell inscribed 'HMS AMETHYST 1943' (with broad arrow). No wires only solid mouldings on crown and soundbow. Solid argent with six rectangular section canons with tapering bases. Cast-in crown staple. Poor tone. Admiralty pattern 10A. Weight stated to be 48lb. 'Amethyst' sloop launched 1943. April 1949 detailed in Yangtze while communist armies occupied area.
