Watch bell
Watch bell inscribed 'HMS AMETHYST 1943' (with broad arrow). No wires only solid mouldings on crown and soundbow. Solid argent with six rectangular section canons with tapering bases. Cast-in crown staple. Poor tone. Admiralty pattern 10A. Weight stated to be 48lb. 'Amethyst' sloop launched 1943. April 1949 detailed in Yangtze while communist armies occupied area. July 1949 ran the gauntlet of shore batteries from Chiangkiang to Woosung. Jan 1957 broken up.
