Official ship's badge of HMS Dahlia
Ship's badge of HMS 'Dahlia' 1915. An official design, diamond-shaped, with a naval crown and rope twist border. It depicts a red 'Glow' dahlia with green leaves and stalk, on a white background. The pattern was approved in January 1927. The type of dahlia in reference to the ship’s motto: ‘Dum ferveo floreo’ (while I glow I florish). Cast in copper alloy and painted. The badge seems more likely to relate to the Acacia class sloop launched in 1915 rather than the later corvette.
