Rosa Tacchini
This small half-length figurehead of a young girl from the wooden barque 'Rosa Tacchini' may be a portrait connected with the owners of the ship. It has been deliberately kept in its unrestored condition as an example of the state some items were originally in, washed up after some time in the sea. Little is known about the ‘Rosa Tacchini’ but, while sheltering from a south-westerly gale in 1872, her anchor cables parted. She was driven onto the Paper Ledges, south of Tresco. She became a total wreck, having struck twice before settling on the rocks.

Registered voyage: Buenos Aires to Antwerp. Cargo: hides, horns, hooves, tallow and wool. Master at loss: Abbate. Wrecked: 22 November 1872.
