Official boat badge of HMS Hastings
The boat badge of HMS 'Hastings' 1930. An official design, the pattern approved on 4 July 1929. On a field party, per pale red and blue, a lion passant gold. The design is based on the arms of Hastings, Sussex. The badge is diamond-shaped with a gold rope twist border representing an auxiliary. It is made of cast brass, painted and drilled at the corners. 'HASTINGS' is inscribed on the reverse. HMS 'Hastings' was a Hastings-class sloop built at Devonport and launched in 1930. During the Second World War, she was employed on convoy escort duties in the Atlantic and between Great Britain and Sierra Leone. At the end of 1943 she was withdrawn from active duty and later used as a target. She was broken up in 1946 at Troon.
