Official boat badge of HMS Ormonde
The boat badge of HMS 'Ormonde' 1918. An official design, the pattern submitted in November 1923. On a black field, a silver chained griffin. The griffin is a supporter of the arms of the Marquess of Ormonde. The badge is diamond-shaped with a gold rope twist border representing an auxiliary. It is made of cast brass, painted and drilled at the corners. 'ORMONDE' is inscribed on the reverse. HMS 'Ormonde' was a '24'-class minesweeping sloop, launched at Blyth n 1918. She became a survey vessel in 1924 and was sold for breaking up in 1937.
