Ornament
Ornament in the form of Nelson's Column, made of greenish glass. The column and statue were completed on site in 1843. The base is shown as stepped with the lions on individual plinths, as in William Railton's original design. The podium was changed by Lord Lincoln in about 1845 and the lions finally completed to Edwin Landseer's designs in 1867. Here the lions and the figure of Nelson are made of ormolu.
