Official boat badge of HMS Egmont
The boat badge of HMS 'Egmont' 1881. An official design, the pattern approved in June 1923. On a red field, an antelope's head silver with gold horns, round the neck a ducal coronet and chain gold, in his mouth a thistle proper. The design derives from one of the supporters of the arms of the Percival family, Earls of Egmont. The badge is diamond-shaped with a gold rope twist border representing an auxiliary. It is made of cast brass, painted and drilled at the corners. HMS 'Egmont' was the name of the base ship at Malta. Originally 'Bullfrog' 1881 she was renamed in 1923. She was sold in 1933.
