Rummer

Rummer commemorating the battles of the Glorious First of June, St Vincent, and the Nile. It is wheel-engraved with two shields bearing foul anchors and suspended by ribbons and two medallions, one engraved with a star, the other with the letters 'WM', all joined by drapes. Inscribed above: 'LD NELSON'S AUG 1 1798', 'LD HOWE'S 1 JUNE 1794', 'LD VINCENT'S FEBY 14 1797', 'LD DUNCAN'S OCTB 11 1797'. the rummer has an ovoid bowl, short fluted stem with collar and conical foot. The base of the bowl is also fluted. GGG0235 is a similar glass, effectively with the almost same design. Both are presumably of about 1799-1800 (i.e. before either the Battles of Copenhagen in 1801 or Trafalgar in 1805)
