Official boat badge of HMS Inconstant

The boat badge of HMS 'Inconstant' 1914. The official design of 1919 represents on a field blue, a butterfly gold. The previous, unofficial design also depicted a butterfly. 'The badge is a pentagonal shape with a gold rope twist border, representing a cruiser. It is made of cast brass, painted and drilled at the corners. 'INCONSTANT' is inscribed on the reverse. 'Inconstant' was an Arethusa-class light cruiser, built in 1914 by William Beardmore & Co, Glasgow. Under the command of Captain Bertram Sackville Thesinger, she formed part of the 1st Light Cruiser Squadron and was present at the Battle of Jutland. She was scrapped in 1922.
