Schnapps bottle
Full bottle of Schnaps from the wreck of the German cruiser 'Admiral Sheer' 1933. There is a typed label pasted round the bottle which reads: 'This bottle of German Snapps, being one of many similar bottles, was recovered by me in my post war capacity of captain of the dockyards in Kiel, Germany, from the wreck of the cruiser Admiral Scheer then lying submerged in the Bau haven [sic] having been sunk by allied bombing late 1945. From the German personnal including one engineer Rear Admiral retained by us for mil. gov. requirements, we learned that this cruiser was fully stored, ammunitioned etc. preparatory to sailing as a sea raider when she was sunk. Note that the two china plates now hanging in my bedroom were likewise recovered by me from the same source. E.L.D.' (E.L. Davies).
