An oval portrait of Nelson on the base of the monument behind which are placed British, French and Spanish flags, mourning seamen stand on either side. Inscribed below: 'A Monumental Tribute of Respect to the Memory of Admiral Lord Nelson who in the moment of Victory gloriously fell fighting for his country on the 21 Octr. 1805.' The picture is in a black-edged gilt wooden frame.
