Official boat badge of HMS Alresford
The boat badge of HMS 'Alresford' 1919. An official design approved in December 1926. The field is chequered gold and black. On a white square in the centre, a black lion rampant. The badge is a diamond shape with a gold rope twist border representing an auxiliary. It is made of cast brass, painted and drilled at the corners. 'ALRESFORD' is inscribed on the reverse. Based on the arms of the town of the same name in Hampshire, which first appear on the beadle's staff. 'Alresford' was a Hunt-class minesweeper. She was launched in 1919 at Troon and later served in the Second World War in the Diepe raid and Dunkirk evacuation. She was scrapped in 1947.
