Official boat badge of HMS Medusa
The boat badge of HMS 'Medusa' 1925. The official design which was approved in March 1926. On a black field, Medusa's head proper with gold snakes in her hair. Official design. Diamond shape. Pattern approved in March 1926. The badge is a diamond shape with a gold rope twist border representing an auxiliary. It is made of cast brass, painted and drilled at the corners. Medusa' was a monitor, previously M29, launched in 1915. She took part in the Battle of Jaffa and the White Sea campaign, after conversion to a minelayer she was renamed 'Medusa' in 1925. She was converted as a repair ship in 1941 and was renamed HMS 'Talbot'. She was eventually broken up in 1946.
