Official boat badge of HMS Warwick
The boat badge of HMS 'Warwick' 1917. The design of this badge was created by Charles Ffoulkes [Admiralty Advisor on Heraldry 1918-1936] The official design approved in May 1919. On a black field, a silver bear, muzzled and chained gold. The badge is shield-shaped with a gold rope twist border representing an destroyer. It is made of cast brass, painted and drilled at the corners. 'WARWICK' is inscribed on the reverse.This badge shows the bear facing to the right, whereas on the official design drawing, the bear is facing to the left. The badge for Warwick was also the first badge to be reigstered by the Admiralty Advisor of Heraldry records with the reference number 'AAH001'.
