Terrestrial floor globe. Geographical details on the sphere include a note in the Arctic region that reads, 'Jan Mayen Position determined by Capt Scoresby'. Cook's death is recorded 'near Karakakooa B. / Here Cap.t Cook was killed'. In Africa there are labels for 'Lake Victoria' and 'Livingstonia'. There are labels for 'Columbus I. 1809' and 'Lisianskys I. 1805'. In the 'ANTARCTIC CONTINENT', there are labels for 'Adelaide I. disco. by Cap.t Biscoe 1831-32', 'Enderby's Land disco.d Cap.t Bisco 1832' and 'Adelie L.d dis.d by D'Urville 1840'. The tracks of five voyages of exploration are shown, including, for example, 'Cook 1773, 1774, outward 1776', 'Cook 1778' and 'Capt. Clerke 1779'. A total of seven oceans are named.
