Celestial navigational globe

Celestial navigational globe. Astronomical details on the sphere are almost exactly the same as Henry Hughes & Son, GLB0065, but there are a few exceptions. The polar calottes for this globe are not coloured, and 'H.H & S.' on the horizon ring stands for Henry Hughes and Son. A piece of paper with an instruction for use is pasted inside the lid, as in GLB0065, but the present copy has the stamp of the 'COMPASS DEPARTMENT / ADMIRALTY / 19 MAR 1953'.

There are stars without constellation figures or contours, and there is a labelled magnitude table above the title in a rectangular cartouche. Some stars are labelled by their Bayer notation or Flamsteed number, and a total of 44 are named.
