Samuel Pepys
This print from the Kneller portrait of 1689 (now BHC2947) formed the frontispiece to vol. 1 of the second edition of Pepy's's diary (ed., Richard, Lord Braybrooke) published by Colburn in 1828 and (as redated here) the third edition of 1848. Braybrooke's preface acknowledged Samuel Pepys-Cockerell as the source of four of the five pictures used for the second edition, but expressly thanks him for making the plate of this one available - which was not used in the first edition of 1825.
