Burnham Thorpe Rectory
One of several images from 1808 and later relating to the life of Nelson, (see BHC1772 for a more detailed description). The painting has traditionally been attributed to Rebecca Bolton, the daughter of Nelson’s sister Susannah and her husband Thomas Bolton of Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk, a coal and corn merchant. BHC1771 is another version, and a third is in Portsmouth. They appear to be copies derived from the plate engraved in Clarke and McArthur's 'Life of Nelson' (1809) after BHC1772.
