Mr T P Cooke as Tom Trim, 2nd dress, Mr T P Cooke as Tom Trim, 1st dress, Mr Johnson as Lieut Rivers & Mr Morrison as La Roche
Plate No. 1. Four images on one sheet. A 'penny plain' toy theatre sheet by William Webb, with representations of Thomas Potter Cooke, in one of the nautical melodrama parts for which he was well known as the best 'stage sailor' of the early 19th century. This was not surprising as Cooke had been in the Navy including at the Battle of Cape St Vincent in 1797, for which he later claimed the Naval General Service Medal. He continued playing these heroic young sailor hero parts into his sixties.
