Model of the 'Oceanic' (1899)
A full hull builders' model of the passenger liner 'Oceanic' (1899), as displayed in the Naval, Shipping, and Fisheries Exhibition at Earl's Court, London, in 1905. A view of the port side of the ship from broadside.
A cloth has been fixed behind the showcase to block out the background; a banner with the London address of the Welin Davit & Engineering Co Ltd is reflected in the glass. Most of the area surrounding the showcase has been masked out on the negative. This is perhaps the 1:64 scale model of the 'Oceanic' now in the Merseyside Maritime Museum, Liverpool.
