Obverse: Two female figures, the taller representing Columbia is about to envelope the smaller figure representing Louisiana in the stars and stripes. Louisiana is divesting herself of a cloak decorated with Napoleonic bees. Legend: "UNIVERSAL . EXPOSITION . SAINT . LOVIS .VNITED . STATES . OF . AMERICA." Exergue: "M.C.M.IV." Reverse: Eagle with spread wings above two dolphins representing the USA stretching from coast to coast. Inscription: "GRAND . PRIZE . LOVISIANA . PVRCHASE . EXPOSITION". In a leather case.
