Baltic Medal 1854-5
Awarded to Herbert R Holmes, Midshipman, HMS Neptune from 7 March 1854 to 12 April 1855, HMS Cornwallis from 13 april 1855 to 18 September 1856.
Obverse: Head of Queen Victoria with a diadem, hair tied in a knot (L). Legend: "VICTORIA REGINA". Reverse: Britannia in a helmet holding an upright trident seated on a block ornamented with a naval gun and trophy, Russian forts of Bomarsund and Sveaborg in the distance on either side. Legend: "BALTIC". Exergue: "1854-1855". Inscribed on edge: "HERBERT R. HOLMES, MIDSHN. H.M.S. NEPTUNE 1854. H.M.S.CORNWALLIS 1855". Suspended from a bar and yellow ribbon edged with blue.
