Silver Jubilee medal, King George V 1935
Awarded to Rear-Admiral Frederic Cyril Bradley (1888-1957). Obverse: Busts of their Majesties, crowned (left) Legend: 'GEORGE V AND QUEEN MARY MAY VI MCMXXXV.' Reverse: Royal cypher 'GRI' between dates 'MAY 6 1910' & 'MAY 6 1935'. Mounted on a bar with six others.
Frederic Cyril Bradley (1888-1957) entered the Navy on 15 January 1904. During World War I, he served in destroyer HMS ‘Matchless’. From the 8 September 1915, he commanded Torpedo Boat 23 in which he rendered assistance to a mined Dutch vessel, then from 14 March 1917 destroyer HMS ‘Unity’. During 1918 he also commanded ‘Trenchant’ and ‘Rocket’. In spite of health issues, he continued his naval career during the 1920’s and 1930’s‘, being promoted Captain on 31 December 1930. He was Naval Attaché at Washington from 1935-1938 and ended his career in command of light cruiser ‘Edinburgh’ before being relegated to shore duties due to poor sight in 1939. He was appointed Rear-Admiral on 15 January 1941 and retired on 19 March 1947.
He married Phyllis Ethel Wood at Bournemouth on 21 September 1912.
