First Class Lounge on the 'Orama' (1911)
Interior of the passenger liner 'Orama' (1911) showing the First Class Lounge, on the Promenade Deck; a view of the port side, looking towards the elevator at the after end. The arched doorways in the background lead to the First Class Writing Room and Library.
The main public rooms on the 'Orama' were designed by the architect Robert Whyte (1873-1949). The First Class Lounge was decorated in the Neoclassical style with dull polished mahogany panelling. The carving and plastering work was carried out by the Bromsgrove Guild of Applied Arts.
