Distinguished Service Order 1910-36
Distinguished Service Order awarded to Engineer Rear Admiral Harold Hugh Huxham (1881-1968). The block citation was published in the ‘London Gazette’ 14 September 1917, ‘For their services in vessels of the Harwich Force during the war’. Huxham was serving as an Engineer Lieutenant Commander on HMS ‘Redgauntlet’.
The medal is an enamelled white cross edged in gold with a green central wreath containing the Imperial Crown in gold on a red background. On the reverse is the Royal Cypher within a green wreath on a red background. The ribbon has a wide central stripe of red edged with narrower stripes of blue. It is mounted on a bar with four others: 1914-15 Star (MED1635), British War Medal (MED1636), Victory Medal (MED1637) and Messina Earthquake Medal (MED1638).
