1914-15 Star
Awarded to Henry Ebenezer Mottram (1886-1968). A uniface star of four points, the upper covered by a crown, with two crossed swords entwined by a short scroll. Inscription: '1914-15.' An oak garland superimposed upon the whole. Inscription: 'G'. with a 'V' within it. Inscription Reverse: 'EMB. 285. H. MOTTRAM. CMB., R.N.V.R.' Fitted with a ring and red, white and blue watered-silk ribbon.
Henry Ebenezer Mottram joined the Royal Navy on 18 July 1905 as a Stoker 2nd class. He was rated Stoker from 16 December 1905 but was invalided out of the Navy on 10 December 1908 due to an ear infection. Subsequently, he joined the RNVR (RN Motor Boat Reserve) on 15 Feb 1915 as Chief Motor Boatman. He was promoted Chief Motor Mechanic on 1 Aug 1916 and was demobilised 27 Feb 1919. Before and after his naval service he worked as a chauffeur.
