1939-45 Star
Awarded to S P O Charles Trusler RN (1894-1966). A six pointed star, uniface, surmounted by a circular band crowned containing within it the Royal monogram 'G.R.I. VI'. Legend: 'THE 1939-1945 STAR'. Bar: 'FRANCE AND GERMANY'. Fitted with a ring and ribbon of equal stripes of pale blue, scarlet and dark blue. Mounted on a bar wth seven others.
Charles Trusler was a Petty Officer in the Royal Navy who served in both the First and Second World Wars. He served in HMS 'Hindustan' for most of the Great War. She was attached to the 3rd Battle Squadron based in turn at Rosyth, Portland and Sheerness. His medals indicate that he served in both the Atlantic and off North Africa during the Second World War in HMS 'Danae' and 'Argus'. He left the Royal Navy at the end of World War II and died in 1966.
