Passenger/cargo vessel

Scale: Unknown. A waterline model of a passenger/cargo vessel. The hull is painted lavender grey with brick red at the waterline, with white bulwarks. The decks are painted pale buff with mid-grey cargo hatch covers. The forecastle has anchor cable gear, a single hatch and a derrick foremast. The forward cargo deck has two hatches served by a pair of derricks. The superstructure is painted white and has two promenade decks, one above the other. The front elevation is flat and vertical with a wood-clad pilot house at the top surmounted by an open look-out. Either side of the pilot house are a pair of navigation light cabins. The boat deck has six pairs of lifeboats stowed on davits, on the port and starboard sides and, between them, there are a pair of funnels painted red, with black tops, in Union-Castle company colours. Aft of the upper cargo deck there are two lifeboats stowed on davits, port and starboard and, between them, is a pair of derricks. On the aft cargo deck there is a derrick mainmast and a pair of derricks mounted on a raised deck. The raised poop has a deckhouse and a boat stowed either side of it (one missing). Inscribed on the base of the model is the number "44".
