Cap Arcona (1927); Passenger vessel; Liner
Scale: Unknown. A waterline model of the Hamburg Südamerikanische Dampfschifffahrts-Gesellschaft passenger vessel Cap Arcona (1927). The hull is painted black with brick red at the waterline and white upperworks and superstructure. The decks are painted off-white with the exception of the foredeck, which is dark grey. The foredeck is fitted with anchor cable-handling gear and a cradle for a pair of forward-facing derricks. The forward deck has a foremast with a navigation light and a pair of derricks rigged to it.
The forward elevation of the main superstructure has an observation deck with a prominent curvature in which is set five sets of large portholes. The bridge deck above it has a pilot house in the middle, flanked by open bridge wings. The promenade deck is open and the boat deck above has a shelter deck at the aft end. There are 11 pairs of lifeboats stowed on davits on the boat deck, on the port and starboard sides, painted brown with white covers, eight pairs of which are double-banked. Between the boats, there are three funnels, painted white with vermilion orange tops. Aft of these the shelter deck is a large uninterrupted deck, devoid of fittings apart from the mainmast. The is an open observation lounge aft, with a pronounced curvature, which is an extension of the promenade. Aft of it is a sun deck with three short mast-like fittings. The stern has a characteristic point to it.
