First Class stateroom on the 'Orduna' (1914)
Cabin interior on the passenger/cargo liner 'Orduna' (1914) showing a two berth stateroom in First Class accommodation on the Awning Deck (B Deck). This is the inner cabin of a tandem arrangement. The narrow alleyway providing access to a porthole is in the far corner. The cabins are numbered 519 and 520 according to Bedford Lemere & Co daybooks.
The principle of the 'tandem cabin' originated in the design of accommodation on a vessel owned by the Bibby Steamship Co Ltd, for this reason the term 'Bibby cabin' was also used.
