Decorative painting in the First Class Dining Saloon on the 'Aquitania' (1914)
Interior of the passenger liner 'Aquitania' (1914): the First Class Dining Saloon (Louis XVI Restaurant) on the Upper Deck (D Deck), decorated by P. H. Rémon & Sons, Paris.
Detail of one of the decorative paintings on the funnel casings representing the Pavillon Français in the gardens of the Petit Trianon at Versailles. It is framed by architectural elements to create a trompe l'oeil effect. The Pavillon Français was erected by Ange-Jacques Gabriel (1698-1782), Premier Architecte and Director of the Académie Royale d’Architecture, in 1749-50. It was conceived as a private retreat from court for Louis XV and the Marquise de Pompadour.
