Decorative painting in the Grand Entrance on the 'Aquitania' (1914)
Interior of the passenger liner 'Aquitania' (1914) showing the painting and carved bas-relief over the First Class Main Staircase, at Promenade Deck (A Deck) level. The painting is a‘Roman Capriccio’ by Giovanni Pannini (1691-1765), showing the Colosseum, the Borghese Warrior, the Dying Gaul, the Tomb of Cestius, the Arch of Constantine and the Borghese vase.
