First Class Dining Saloon on the 'Aquitania' (1914)
Interior of the passenger liner 'Aquitania' (1914) showing the First Class Dining Saloon (Louis XVI Restaurant), on the Upper Deck (D Deck); a view of the port side, looking forward. Double doors through to the First Class Foyer can be seen in the distance.
The Dining Saloon is decorated in the Etruscan style, a type of delicate, painted Neo-classical arabesque decoration, derived mainly from the shapes, motifs and colours of antique vases. The decoration was carried out by P. H. Rémon & Sons, Paris.
