Obverse: Head of Queen Elizabeth II, crowned (R). Legend: "ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA FID.DEF." Reverse: On a shield the Arms of the Falkland Islands (a sheep with a ship below) motto on a ribbon below, between two branches of laurel. Legend: "SOUTH ATLANTIC MEDAL". Motto: "DESIRE THE RIGHT". Specimen. Suspended by a straight clasp from a watered silk ribbon striped blue/white/green/white/blue. In cardboard box of issue.
