Porcelain figure of James Richard, 7th Earl Stanhope (1880-1967), in garter robes as worn at the coronation of George VI. He stands holding his plumed hat in his hand wearing a blue robe with cream lining. The tassels have metal cords. Earl Stanhope was Civil Lord of the Admiralty and the Chairman of Trustees of the National Maritime Museum until 1959. Four Dresden figurines were commisioned by Major Christie-Miller of Fortnums - one of each of the four knights who acted as canopy bearers. This example was given to the the Earl's private secretary.
