Portrait medallion
Black basalt portrait medallion depicting the Dutch naval commander Pieter Hein (1577-1629). He is shown facing three-quarter left in a ruff and gold chain. The modeller is believed to be John Flaxman. 'Peter Hein' is incised on the reverse with the impressed maker's name.
