Serving window in the First Class Grill Room on the 'Aquitania' (1914)
Interior of the passenger liner 'Aquitania' (1914) showing the serving window in the forward section of the First Class Grill Room, on the port side of the Upper Deck (D Deck). It is decorated in the early Jacobean style with features derived from the Bromley-by-Bow Room at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London. Cunard Line insignia appears in the design of the leaded glass. The electric grills visible in the background were supplied by Henry Wilson & Co Ltd, Cornhill Works, Liverpool.
The design of the interiors on the 'Aquitania' was largely the work of Arthur Joseph Davis (1878-1951) of the architects Mewès & Davis, London.
