Joint Services Commendation Medal
Awarded to Commander Warren Fred Postel USN.
Obverse: The American Eagle with wings outstretched holding three arrows in its talons, the US shield in the centre of its breast, stars behind, the whole surrounded by a laurel wreath. Reverse: "FOR MILITARY MERIT". Suspended from a pale blue ribbon with three green and four white stripes. In fitted box of issue with a ribbon bar and an enamelled miniature ribbon bar. This medal was instituted in June 1963 and awarded for outstanding services by any member of the armed forces who had served on an assigment with any joint service activities.
Commander Postel was born in 1904 and entered the US Navy in 1923 serving in the Medical Service Corps.
