1939-45 Star
Awarded to Captain Wilfred James Cameron Robertson (1902-51) RN. A six pointed star, uniface, surmounted by a circular band crowned containing within it the Royal monogram 'G.R.I. VI'. Legend: 'THE 1939-1945 STAR'. Fitted with a ring and ribbon of equal stripes of pale blue, scarlet and dark blue. Mounted on a bar with five others.
Robertson was born in Calcutta. He joined the Royal Navy on 15 January 1916 but was not commissioned lieutenant until after the end of the war on 15 June 1924. He held the final rank of Captain from 30 June 1942, and retired on 31 March 1951 shortly before his death. Robertson was Operations Officer on HMS 'King George V' during the pursuit of 'Bismarck' in May 1941.
