First Class Lounge on the 'Essequibo' (1914)
Interior of the passenger/cargo liner 'Essequibo' (1914) showing the First Class Lounge, on the Promenade Deck (a view from the port side, looking forward). The First Class Lounge was decorated in the Neoclassical style. Palm plants are positioned at each side of the stairs down to the Bridge Deck; above is a raised roof and glass dome. The doors of an elevator are at the left edge of the image, and a piano can be seen in the background.
