Bardic Ferry (1957); Passenger/cargo vessel; Ferry

Scale:1:xx. A model of the Bardic Ferry (1957), made in wood with metal fittings and painted in realistic colours. The vessel is depicted in a port, at a quayside being loaded with containers, two of which are being delivered by lorries. The quayside is on the port side of the model and the rear hatch of the vessel is lowered where one lorry is shown driving onto the vessel. The hull is painted red at the waterline, black above with a white stripe running the entire lenght of the hull, and white bulwarks. The superstructure is painted white, fore and aft decks are grey and the superstructure decks are light brown. Foredeck fittings include a union flag at the bow, anchor winches, and wave deflectors. The enclosed pilot house is surmounted by a radio mast. Two covered lifeboats are stowed on davits on seadeck with two more stowed on the deck below. The single funnel is painted blue with a black top and a broad white horizontal stripe. Between the two aft lifeboats is a second radio mast. The aft deck is equipped with a large crane surrounded by 11 containers. There is a secondary bridge and red ensign at the stern. The quayside is painted a uniform mid grey, the water is blue, and the lorries are white with a black undercarriage. On port and starboard bows: "Bardic Ferry", on port and starboard stern quarters: "Bardic Ferry London", on two plaques: "M\V Bardic Ferry Atlantic Steam Navigation Co. Ltd (Transport Ferry Service), 25, Whitehall London SW1 Dimensions: 339' 0" - 55' 0" - 32' 0" - 1957".
