Egypt War Medal 1882-89
Awarded to Admiral Sir Lewis Bayly (1857-1938). Obverse: Head of Queen Victoria in a diadem and veil (left) Legend: 'VICTORIA REGINA ET IMPERATRIX'. Reverse: the sphinx on an ornamental platform. Legend: 'EGYPT'. Exergue: '1882'. Inscription on edge: 'LIEUT. L. BAYLY R.N., H.M.S. AGINCOURT'. Suspended from a clasp and blue ribbon with two white stripes.
'Agincourt' and 'Northumberland' were detached from the Channel Squadron to carry troops to reinforce British forces in Alexandria. 'Agincourt' took on board troops from the 3rd Batallion of the 60th Rifles at Cyprus and landed them at Alexandria on July 17th 1882.
