Captain Cook's Meeting with the Chukchi, 1778
Pen and ink drawing with black and grey wash entitled 'Captain Cook's Meeting with the Chukchi 1778'. Cook's breif meeting with the inhabitants of the Kamchatcka peninsula of Siberia, by whom he was invited to sit ans witness a dance as indicative of peceful intentions. Webber did the drawing subsequently from quick figure and other sketches made on the spot of which examples survive.[PvdM 10/16]
