Terrestrial globe gores

Terrestrial globe gores. Geographical details on the gores are the same as Woodward GLB0263. The location of the 'Antipodes of Greenwich' are marked. In the north polar region, the names of Melville and Parry are recorded. In the south polar region, there are labels for 'Enderbys L.d, I. of Peter Alexander' and Bellany I. 1839'. A total of five oceans are named.

The gores were printed using Woodward's copper plate, GLB0185. The plate was also used to print Woodward, GLB0263 and GLB0264. For full details about the cartography and construction of these gores please refer to the related publication, Globes at Greenwich.
