Boat compass and binnacle
Liquid lifeboat compass with internal holder for second reserve candle, and shutter to cover compass glass. Taken by Sir Ernest Shackleton on his Trans-Antarctic Expedition of 1914-17 - possibly the one taken in the "James Caird" to South Georgia, 1916.
